Hosting Requirements
HOST QUALIFICATIONS
TBI-New Oasis host families have no typical size, shape, or dynamic. Anyone between the ages of 25 – 65 who can pass a background check and can commit to providing a safe, loving home is qualified. Single, married, with or without children, empty-nesters, retirees, single adults, families with teenagers or families with younger children, same sex couples, single parents, large families, small families, blended families, family with or without pets - there is no limit – all are welcome. All members living in the home over the age of 18 must pass a criminal background check. At least one member of the home must have a valid driver’s license, working car, and insurance.
HOME QUALIFICATIONS
TBI-New Oasis hosts must be able to provide a private bedroom for each student they wish to host that includes a minimum of a bed with linens, desk, lamp, dresser, mirror, closet, and WIFI. Host must be willing to complete an initial home interview and submit photos of their home. Hosts must be willing to complete a minimum of two home visits per year.
RESPONSIBILITIES
TBI-New Oasis host families must provide room and board including three meals a day, along with transportation to and from school, airport, and other activities. Host families are encouraged to interact with the e-Host APP to communicate with natural parents. Host families for F-1 International Students must adhere to CISET requirements by completing regular check-ins with a program coordinator.
COMMITMENT
Depending on which program host families apply for, TBI-Host families are contracted to commit to their student for a specific time period.
Short Term Program (1 – 4 Week commitment)
Only available during specific dates
Long Term Program (10 month, school year commitment)
Respite Care – Provide temporary care for students in need.
